It looks like the trails were in good shape. How difficult is route finding once you get on the talus? These look easy enough for my two elder kids. Don’t know about the 8 year year old, though.
Sherm, Grays/Torreys Peaks are among the easiest 14ers to climb in Colorado. There are a few easier ones, but these peaks are perfect because they aren’t too crowded and they have a strong beauty factor. The trails are in great shape, and the talus is pretty easy to navigate. Round trip (which includes both peaks) is just over 7 miles, with an elevation gain of about 3200 feet. It would be a long day for the 8 year old, but probably possible.
